Cost Accountant

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to oversee the accounting 
functions of our food processing facility, warehouse, and distribution operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate cost tracking, inventory valuation, and financial reporting to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong cost accounting expertise, a deep understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Develop and maintain standard cost systems and methodologies for tracking production, labor, and overhead costs.
•    Analyze cost variances between actual and standard costs, providing detailed reports and actionable insights to management
•    Collaborate on best practices with other production facilities across the global footprint
•    Oversee the accurate costing and valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods in the food processing facility.
•    Collaborate with warehouse and distribution teams to ensure timely and precise recording of inventory transactions.
•    Prepare periodic cost reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual analyses for senior management.
•    Ensure all cost accounting practices comply with GAAP and internal policies and assist with external audits as required.
•    Identify and implement process improvements to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
•    Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to monitor key cost drivers and develop cost-saving initiatives.
•    Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, focusing on cost management and efficiency enhancements.
•    Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
•    Work closely with production, operations, warehousing, and distribution teams to ensure alignment of cost management strategies with overall business goals.
•    Act as a liaison between the accounting department and operational units to facilitate effective communication and resolution of cost-related issues.

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or CMA certification a plus
•    3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably within the food processing, manufacturing, or distribution sectors
•    Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods.
•    Proficient in NetSuite and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
•    Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
•    Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment.
•    Self-motivated and proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement
